There is a free version to try from their site if you want to try before you buy. You can by add ons that will cost you more but thats up to you. I am not sure what cheap means to you but I think the $179 US for the basic program is a steal. You cannot track drums IN addictive drums, you need a host like Garageband, Logic, Live, Protools etc where AD is used as the plugin.
